The major concepts of my chosen theory help guide me in the intervention process for both CBT and Narrative Therapy because of my clients and the issues they bring forward. The concepts also guided me through the intervention process because; it allowed me to concentrate on the issue at hand for my client and helped me learn a lot about the therapies and techniques. It also allowed me to see how both of these theories, CBT and Narrative gave me the opportunity to ask myself what my client is going through. Both theories allowed me to also see the improvements of my clients which showed me how my interventions worked. In CBT, “Transference. The therapist should pay attention to negative or positive reactions towards him/her but should not deliberately provoke or ignore them. He or she should be vigilant for signs of strong negative emotions such as a disappointment, anger and frustration experienced in the therapeutic relationship by the patient. These reactions open space for understanding the patients past and actual relations outside the therapy” (Prasko, Diveky, Grambal, Kamaradova, Mozny, Sigmundova, Slepecky, & Vyskocilova 2010 p. 1-2). In term of Counter transference in CBT, the social worker or therapist needs to see the schemas as they relate to the he or she. This allowed my client to speak about and look at many of her transference feelings. When we spoke about the boundaries, I let Nancy know that I will accept and contain both of her negative and positive transference and deal with my own countertransference that might be provoked by my client facts. This gave my client the realization that I as the therapist will accept her transference and it gave the feeling of a neutral ground where Nancy can speak about anything she wants to. With Nancy in terms of counter-transference, I attended to this by realizing me own countertransference so during the session there was a clean space for her to react if need be. For example, I was overwhelmed and anxious one day and I made sure to not let Nancy see me this way so I made the space clean so she didn’t feel anxious or overwhelmed as well. Overall when I attended to these concepts with my client, I made sure she knew the boundaries when we began our therapeutic
