Intervention Plan For Structural Family Therapy

The Client’s grades have been dropping and she is having problems sleeping at night. She states that her parents have been arguing since their Christmas dinner in 2015. Due to the arguing, it has been hard for the client to study and get rest at night. Client would like to get more rest at night and bring up her grades.
After completion of the client’s assessment which consist of the presenting problems, strengths, abilities, needs, and preferences; client and social worker discussed and agreed that the client should find a quiet spot to study so can bring up her grades and get more rest at night. The intervention included three, 10-15 minutes’ individual session, one 30 minutes’ session with client, both her parents and grandmother, and five, 20-30 minutes’ session with client and both her parents. There was one initial difficulty following the intervention model with integrity because the client missed 1 family session due to weather. Social worker monitored how often client went to her grandmother’s house and how well she communicated with her parents during their sessions. The interventions appear to have helped the client because she continues to go to her grandmother’s as planned. she is also expressing herself to her parents more. Clint came into session stating that her grades are dropping in schools and she haven’t been able to sleep good at night because her parents have been arguing. She also stated that she wanted to communicate with her parents more their arguing and school. By the end of the session, she has brought up her grades and is getting more rest at night. She is able to express her concerns and feeling comfortably to her parents about their arguing and school work.
Social worker’s preparation for sessions was based on keep track of client’s planned goals. Social worker also prepared for sessions by working on communication topics necessary for the client.
Social worker uses the supporting system strengths intervention during her sessions. This strategy allowed social worker to provide compliments about aspect of family functioning that are going well. Social worker also reflect back clients concerns throughout the
