The clinical social workers shadowed played prominent roles within interdisciplinary meetings. Some social workers facilitated the meetings, others advocated for the best care of the patient, some listened to the client and provided an outlet for the patient. Despite the role of the social worker, each meeting was enhanced due to a well-developed understanding of the patient’s personal and environmental factors. This understanding brought by the social worker helped the team prioritize, establish, and achieve treatment goals. I was encouraged by this observation, that the social worker is important during recovery and being competent of the client and their past and current issues helps the team make justifiable
