INTERVIEWEE 1: I stay focused, no I played football and that is the only reason I came to school. I was like, I’ll play football and I don’t have to worry about nothing. That’s what they did in high school; they basically passed me because I played football.

INTERVIEWEE: Right.

INTERVIEWEE 1: I didn’t have any challenge in high school. My mind said, football, I can do whatever I want in college, because that is how they make it seem on TV. INTERVIEWEE: Yes you do.

INTERVIEWEE 1: I’ve been staying focused and now I have a 3.5 GPA.

Boycott Football Re: “Abolish high school football!” written by Raymond A. Schroth Football is the sport with a innumerable of injuries and deaths. I can agree with the writer about how at least 1 teenager that plays football for high school gets a concussion. I can also start that at least one football player has been injured. Every year, every day, every hour, every minute, and every second during the football season at high schools there’s an injured player or a player who perhaps died on the field because of a concussion or his head was hit really hard. Wearing a helmet during the game isn’t enough to protect you from getting injured.…

The participants of this study were 5,263 leagues that sponsored youth football. Zip codes were used for the demographics of the community in that area.…

To Play or Not To Play???“Put Me in Coach” When people reminisce about their high school years, fond memories of being at the height of fitness, spending countless hours with teammates, and playing in the “Big Game” are often treasured. However, some students at St. Anthony High School are choosing not to be involved in the athletic program for social and academic reasons. As a result, many are missing out on one of the most important aspects of their high school career. Although some believe that participation in high school athletics is a roadblock towards academic success and a satisfying social life, students should play at least one sport throughout high school because they will develop critical life skills and increase their physical…

I had just entered my junior year in high school and was back to playing football, my grades were good so far and my A.D.D. medication was helping me a lot. Zach and I had just arrived at the union school for a junior varsity game against Oceanside high school, we geared up and got ready for the game. I started the game at quarterback and the game wasn't going well for us, which didn't come as a surprise because jv games are never enjoyable. I took the snap and rolled out to the left side of the field, no one was open so I tucked the ball under my arm and started to run up field, I had room to move, suddenly a linebacker running at me from my side started to shorten up his steps and set himself for a tackle, he tackled low but I…

“I was hit helmet-to-helmet from the side of my face and I kind of stumbled over, and after that my ears started ringing and my eyes kind of blacked out a little bit,” (Calkins). Mack Woodfox, a high school varsity football player, missed weeks of school and practice due to a concussion caused by player-to-player contact. His injury accounts for the 300,000 concussions that young athletes suffer each year, according to a survey by Nationwide Children’s Hospital. After heavy publicity over such injuries and financial costs related to high school football programs, the school board should not continue to allow football in our local high schools because of the high prevalence in…

There are imposers who want to ban football from being a high school sport because it causes too many concussions. I disagree with this idea because if a student wants to play, they should be aware of anything that could happen. Also, there is the same chance of getting injured in any other sport.…
