Intersection Of Purpose: Faith And Research

Decent Essays
Hi Latreese, It is very nice to meet you. I just recently received my bachelor's degree in psychology this past summer. While completing my bachelor's, I was very indecisive about which career path that I wanted to take. At first I wanted to do teaching since I love working with kids but later on I realize my calling was school counseling. After reading your post, I was very inspired some of the things that you mentioned. I also agreed with some of the things you said about the intersection of faith and research especially the part in your post where you mentioned faith-driven hypotheses. Just like you and any other person that's in the educational field, I want to make sure that I'm guided by faith when it comes to doing research. I know

I was very apprehensive when I started reading The Faith by Moynahan, which even has “A History of Christianity” pretentiously written on the side binding; as my Christian friend who I often go to for religious advice said when I showed him the book, “I didn’t know that Brian Moynahan wrote the Bible.” Humankind is notorious for interpreting religious texts to their own best interests, which was even explicitly stated in the The Faith; “Men adjudicated on what was true to the faith, and what merited excommunication from it.” (19) With religion as a scapegoat, we have seen century after century of obstruction and growth; from the Crusades to terrorist acts by the ISIS, extremists are often born from the cherry-picking of religious texts and…

A Summit of Faith which took place in the Young Auditorium on Oct. 4 at 7 p.m. was a panel discussion that concluded a three-part series event. All events were based on The Saint and the Sultan authored by Paul Moses. The panel discussion was the part in the series which specifically intended to “bring Christians and Muslims together for an open panel discussion about compromise, filtered through the lens of the Saint and the Sultan.” It intended to do so by understanding history and discussing how it might serve today’s society given all the current problems still found in Christian and Muslim relations.…

The theological integration of faith and learning is one of the essential elements to the educational theory and practice of a Christian Higher Education institution. A discussion of these essential elements helps to set the backdrop for an explanation of my approach to the integration of faith and teaching, learning, and research in regards to Christian Higher Education, especially to Christian Ministry and Leadership discipline. I believe that the elements that are essential to the educational theory and practice of a Christian university are the development of students’ Christian worldview in which Christ-centered education is systematically rooted, the theological integration of faith and learning, and the preparation of students’ vocation…

Faith is the strong belief in God or in the doctrines of a religion, based on spiritual apprehension rather than proof. This is important to Christians because it’s what we follow and we believe about Jesus and God. Everyone perception of faith is different but what Azusa Pacific aims to do is to include everyone of faith. In the last line of the statement of faith, it says, “We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.” That is very important because it states that there is a unit between all Christians and they all pray for one another.…

It is often confused what faith is and what it is not. Indeed it is an abstract term which its definition will change depending on who you ask. Throughout the works of two authors, Faith by Terrence W. Tilley and The Essential Tillich by Paul Tillich, the term faith gets evaluated and explained in a more in depth fashion. Everyone has faith; it does not have to be a religious belief, but in fact it can be a relationship with something, a center of value, or a motive. Faith, to me, is an abstruse concept where the components of belief, hope and morality unite to form a synonymous definition.…

How My Faith Defines Who I Am Faith: having a strong belief in a religion, or an even stronger belief in a God. I personally believe in God the Father, and that he created each and every one of us in his own image. I believe that Jesus died on the cross to save us from our sin and brought us new life through his death and resurrection. In my faith I stand as a Catholic, which means I believe in only one God. However, God is three persons, also known as the Holy Trinity, meaning there is the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.…

What do you consider to be the most significant thing you learned in this module (include appropriate or applicable Scripture references)? The most things I learned in this module are that faith without works is dead. “What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if you say you have faith but do not have works? Can faith save you? If a brother or sister is naked and lacks daily food, and one of you says to them, go in peace; keep warm and eat your fill, and yet you did not supply their bodily needs, what is the god of that?…
