I loved how the plot progressed. Della and Jim are both strong characters who are willing to sacrifice something meaningful to them; working hard prior to Christmas in order to buy a secret gift for each other and make the other happy. This is something we don't see today. If you need money, you can take a loan and pay it off with interest, but in the story they both sold something in order to get money. You can learn a valuable lesson on love and gratitude and have a fun read as well. This story has taught me that sometimes you must give up something in order to gain something in return. The irony in this story is just jaw-dropping. Who would have known it would end the way Henry ended
