Interpret Literature, Interpret Life In the epic poem Beowulf, too many people were reliant on the assistance of our powerful brawny main character. Everyone primarily yearned for safety, but seldom was anyone willing to attain these luxuries themselves. Much like how in today’s society, countless people rely on others to complete tasks and make changes occur. When in reality, it legitimately takes a village to improve the world. The battle with the dragon(2008-2130) is not pleasant. During this attack Wiglaf pleads with geats to assist Beowulf however they were to afraid to. This ultimately leads to the death of Beowulf due to the wound he received that was tainted in poison. My opinion on this section is that yes, although after 50 years we may not be able to consider Beowulf as agile and strong but I feel like the people did. They were only successful with the help of all the others that are not listed in the textbooks. People like you and I, who are the unspoken backbones of this society, the unaccredited ones who subtle guide this nation, to where ever it is this nation is going. Bottom-line, it was, and it is these big names that shape society, likewise it is the others that form the shape. Meaning that we may not be any of these house hold names (for me, not yet). But, we are the ones who make these household names relevant. Who would Rosa Parks be without the everyday people joining her for a boycott involving not riding the buses? Who would Sojourner Truth be without any female supporters during the suffrage era? Who would the government be without the cooperation of us Americans? Us. They would be us. A person with a dream, and a want, and a voice that shrieks to be heard and no one to listen. Why? Because they may have dreams, and wants, and voices, but they are lacking the majority of the people that are on
