Interpersonal Conflict in Film
Interpersonal conflicts can occur at all levels of communication between people, which is the case with the movie Crash (Haggis, 2004). In this movie there are a number of unhealthy disputes that take place between the actors that never get resolved. The movie is centered on the problems of race and gender that trigger a group of strangers, in the Los Angeles area, to physically and emotionally bump in to each other.
In one situation Graham and Ria are both cops as well as partners plus they are in a personal relationship with each other. The following conversation took place with Graham and Ria in bed:

In order to resolve their conflict they should have identified the problem using effective communication so that both sides understand the problem, to identify what they agree and disagree on could have changed the way they communicated with one another. This should be done by using active listening skills and using “I statements and avoiding blame”.
By coming together with the problems at hand they could gain strength from what is agreed upon and what is their mutual understanding of the problem. They would need to improve their communication skills by placing heavy emphasis on their own needs, desires, and motives in their relationship. Making the Connection states “By becoming more aware of these goals, and what you want to achieve in a relationship, you can identify areas of the relationship that you would like to improve and generate ideas for making these changes” (Sole, 2011). Decide on the best solution, come up with several probable solutions and together evaluate them by agreeing what each party must do and implement the
