Introduction:
This report is about to analyze an interpersonal conflict with my classmates which happened in my Korea study tour recently. First, I’m going to give a brief description of my interpersonal conflict case. And try to find out the possible causes of the conflict which relate to few of the communication concepts. Besides, I’ll do a reflection on my words and deeds about this case and give some idea about how to resolve the interpersonal conflict.
Conflict description briefly:
I went to Korea for study tour in August. Our dorm room was distributed by the University previously. My roommate (also my classmate) named Shirley, we were just an acquaintances. I heard some rumor (about her personality and some people label her as a free-rider) …show more content…
First, I shouldn’t judge someone by rumors that I hear or believe. It’s should be observed at the event and the target carefully before labeling someone. Second, I shouldn’t use “You-message” such as “ You should take the resoponsiblity!” “You are crazy!” to blame my roommate and forced her to take the responsibility. As for “I didn’t lock my luggage” that’s my fault, I shouldn’t avoid the responsibility and shift the blame on her. I should use more “I-message” to say my own thoughts, for example “excuse me, I’m a little bit angry now, would you guys please left me and Shirley alone, let us can talk to each other first?”. I should calm down and try to argue for a point with her in a comfortable way. As for her boyfriend got flu and I blame them, I find out that her boyfriend couldn’t speak Korean actually so that he can’t go to the clinic by himself and also her boyfriend is the first time went to Korea for travel. I completely ignore the fact due to my allness thinking and didn’t strive to understand my roommate’s viewpoint. Also , I only focus on how can I win the argument so I use some verbal aggressiveness to attack her like asking her “ Are you crazy?” and use some foul language. I reckon that the best way to tackle the problem is we should identify the problem between us first, find out that we both agree on and have small tall to share about our own thoughts, pay attention …show more content…
but the most important way is via language. Interpersonal conflict happens every day. A frequent and effective conflict in a relationship maybe be better than a relationship which never have argument. Some of them are positive can let the relationship to be more closer. Some of them are negative that can destroy interpersonal network . “Word is more powerful than the sword.” I found that I’m an individualistic after I wrote this paper and do the reflection part. It’s just like a re-examination to myself and define my hidden-self. I believe that no one could be perfect, the experiences of the interpersonal skill, how to communication with other softly and tackle the problem need to accumulate.
