Chapter one of our book outlines a few of the principles of interpersonal communication; One of these principles claims that interpersonal communication is irreversible (McCornack 16). Many times in my life I have seen this principle ring true, and wished that I could take back something I said. One example for instance came about within an argument between me and my father. Somehow we had gotten onto the subject of staying out too late and when I should be home. Although I insisted that I should be allowed to stay out as long as I’d like, given that I was 18 at the time, he did not see it that way.…

On the surface I think I am like most students: I take university seriously, I have my own visions for the future that I am determined to make happen, and I do not expect anyone to lead my way. What makes me different from the rest of the crowd though is how I love to take part organizing something for the greater good. During my school years, I have joined several school organizations which has taught me how to work well in team and how to work under pressure. Previous experience has also given me a considerable amount of confidence in my interpersonal communication skills. I look forward to putting this skills and experiences in this Peace tour as a leader.…

Interpersonal communication is the process of sending and receiving information between two or more people. It is a person-to-person contact, it includes everyday exchange that may be formal or informal and can take place anywhere by means of words, sounds, facial expression, gestures and postures. Two significant learning points for me during this course was in module 3, using the I-language instead of you-language which gives power over our thoughts, feelings and emotions to others. To take responsibility for your own feelings, rely on I language rather than you language. I language owns thoughts and feelings and does not blame them on others (Wood 125).…

Interpersonal communication is two people who establish a communicative relationship (Lane, 2010). The basis of interpersonal communication is a multitude of concepts that in turn all tie together. This past Saturday, my dad and I got into an argument, this argument showed many concepts including conflict type, conflict style, and our verbal and nonverbal communication. These concepts helped me analyze our argument and we were able to mend our relationship as well as come to a resolution. Interpersonal Communication has taught me that communicating can be hard…

Interpersonal Communication is a relatively new way of communication for me. I was not able to take this course early in my academic career at Sierra College because I just recently transitioned to a Communication Studies major from Business Administration but to my knowledge, it is a way of interaction between you and another person. I would feel that my own interpersonal communication skills are fairly well stacked up. I feel as if I am a great communicator who can get my thoughts and ideas out easily and without struggling. I would say that I can speak my mind fairly and communicate it across a broad spectrum.…

I took two classes for the summer of 2016, but the Interpersonal Communication class had me worried the most. I had a training with the army, and that required me to absence from school for two weeks. Unlike my other class, I didn’t have a chance to work ahead of the class with the instructor for the two weeks that I would be missing. Therefore, I was worried that I wouldn’t catch up with my classmates and end up failing the class. However, Ms. Anna was generous and extended the assignment due date for me; she even gave me an extra-credit assignment to replace the credits that I missed during my two weeks in training.…

Men and women also have different job satisfaction, especially when it involves doing their job as well as interacting and communicating with their co-workers, "females are more satisfied with jobs where their interactions with others is supportive and cooperative, whereas males are more concerned with more autonomous behaviors" (Amason & Allen, 1997, p. 958). Job satisfaction is very important when a manager is trying to make sure that their employees are happy and plan on staying with the organization, job satisfaction is important no matter the gender of the employee and is crucial for making sure that there are no conflicts or problems that the organization needs to work on changing for the benefit of the organization as well as its employees.…

From the beginning I struggled with many things when it came to my overall communication skills. Speaking publicly was not something I had experience with so I didn’t know what to do with my hands for starters. I would feel a sense of uncomfort when talking to an audience. My instant reaction to this was to either play with my hands or keep them glued by my side. This was the first challenge that I faced over the duration of the class, but it certainly wasn’t the last.…
