Interpersonal communication Skills are the skills we use when engaged in face-to-face communication with one or more people. There are several ways we can communicate with others, and in order to be effective you need to be aware of certain skills that may help you in life. Having good verbal and listening skills are so important as a part of interpersonal communication, interpersonal skills are crucial in developing other significant life skills.
When we communicate with other people it is easy to stray away from the conversation, or have your mind on something you need to at a later time. In doing this you may have not received important information. You may have not heard something that could be detrimental to someone’s health or even life. So not only do we need to communicate and by communicate I mean using verbal and non-verbal skills, also using other skills such as listening skills. You need to have a knowledge of active listening skills; these can help you to avoid misunderstandings.

When entering your job or out in public you verbal and non-verbal communication reflects on you. Have you ever been somewhere like a doctor’s office and while you are telling your nurse what your there for she or he just seems to talk to you like you are in the medical field? Or you are sitting there telling them your problem and they turn and start to talk and you cannot understand what they are saying.
