A commonality found was the high cell phone use among the younger generations in comparison to the older population. The aged population, ranging from 50 and older, tends to use cell phones less often in public settings compared to younger generations. The attachment that youth display with their cell phones is overwhelming compared to the older generations. The older subjects carry out activities like playing chess, reading the newspaper, and converse with each other while making eye contact. The younger generations will converse and find entertainment by watching videos and playing games on their cell phones, often carrying conversation with little to no eye contact.

It was interesting to make note of when individuals felt isolated or ostracized. Individuals displayed discomfort and utilized a defending self mechanism by using their cell phones. The individuals observed who were alone or excluded, would use a cell phone to make it appear like they were occupied. They would constantly unlock and lock their phone, or be continuously using the cell phone while they were alone. Individuals no longer have to eat alone when they have a Smartphone in front of them. Communication no longer has to be public and verbal; instead, by using a cell phone, areas have been transformed into individuals own private spaces for communication. This phenomenon creates a new area of study that can be interpreted to determine how cell phone use affects interpersonal relationships. The culture around cell phones has been accepting and adapting rapidly in everyday life. We will discuss the actions that people have developed with the involvement of cell phone use in a public area, and attempt to clarify there reason of
