The messages usually reinforce verbal communication. Physical nonverbal communication, or body language, includes facial expressions, eye contact, body posture, or any types of gestures. Gestures may be: a wave, pointing a finger, body movements, tone of voice, touch, and others. Facial expressions are the most common among all nonverbal communication. In example, a smile or a frown translates distinct emotions hard to express through verbal communication. Certain messages can be communicated through gesture, body language or posture, facial expression, eye contact, object communication such as clothing, or even hairstyles. Nonverbal communication can occur through sight, sound, smell, touch or taste.
The most common form of object communication is clothing. The types of clothing that people wear are often used to evaluate people’s personality traits. Social groups use a form of clothing to set themselves apart from other social groups. But, it is just not clothing. It could be a wedding ring to indicate marital status.
