It's really important to have the knowledge of these things to be able to help out the client. I want to educate myself and do their research so that I could be better equipped to help the client in whatever they need assistance with when they walk into the agency.

Another specific thing that I would like to learn at my internship is directions to my career path. By the end of my internship I expect to know what type of population I would want to work with and what field. At the start of my internship I really wanted to experience every aspect of social work field with every population , as the weeks go by I'm starting to get an insight into my interest and what I want to do in the future as a social work.

I was a client at my agency I would expect for the Human Service intern to be respectful and professional. Most of the clients walking into the agency I'm interning are Spanish speaking immigrants who are already having a hard time and being harassed by their landlords. When they walk into the agency they expect for someone to treat them with respect because it's not something they get often. They also expect for the intern to have some knowledge on how to help them because if no one at the agency knows how to help them then they might lose their home. I think it's really important for the Human Service intern to treat their clients with respect and the dignity

In the Human Services field I am very passionate about working with people in the deaf culture. I am passionate about working with this population because I know American Sign Language and I feel a connection to the community. Learning ASL took a long time and allowed me to be engaged in many events in the deaf community. I believe people in this population are not given nearly as much attention or opportunities as they should be. The lack of equal access to education, jobs, and basic interactions that hearing people take for granted is not fair and puts this population at a disadvantage therefore making it important for people to want to work with this group of people.…

Raised in a Buddhist household, my parents have instilled in me the core value of putting the concerns of others before mine. With this, I have felt that it has always been my responsibility to take care of others. Through primary school and middle school, I quickly took the role of being an outlet for my friends, classmates, and teachers whenever they needed help or someone to talk to; listening to their problems, staying after school to help my teachers for any minor help that they needed in the classrooms, and having an overall open mind to any situation. My passion to help others continued on to high school, where I was introduced to volunteering opportunities in my neighboring communities. My first experience in helping the greater community…

When I was young, I really wanted to be a garbage collector, bus driver or a lawyer. I grew up at a local city in South-eastern Nigeria called Onitsha. Having a child’s mentality, I chose this job because I wanted to make everywhere clean and tidy.…
