Psychology is a very important field to study due to the fact internists need to be prepared for all situations. To be an internist, they must have a vast knowledge of medicine. Another very important thing to study is law. Studying law is important so internists may avoid running into illegal issues with patients. Finally, having an understanding of biology is important. Biology deals the with life and how it works, so it is essential for a career in the medical field (“Knowledge” 1). I do enjoy learning new things, so I’m sure I would have no problem gaining this knowledge. In order to get a M.D. (Doctor of Medicine), he/she must first get their Bachelor 's degree. Usually an internist would need to major in biology, chemistry, or, if the school has it, pre-med for their Bachelor 's Degree. Once graduating from medical school, internists have several more tasks to complete. They will have to complete an internship, a state licensing exam, a residency program in internal medicine, and finally, complete additional exams to become board certified (“Preparation” 1).
