What is the latest trend in connecting to the internet in the Philippines?
One of the various ways to connect to the internet is through fiber optic technology. It delivers laser-generated pulses of light on strands of glass fibers. Recently, Globe Telecom Inc. is laying down 10,000 kilometers of fiber-optic cable this year in implementation of LTE or Long Term Evolution technology. This would bring high-speed data to mobile phones and other devices. A Globe product called Tattoo Torque is powered by GPON or Gigabit Passive Optical Network which uses fiber optic technology. The maximum speed of Tattoo Torque is 150 Mbps.
