With the development of technology, internet gradually becomes an important element in many areas. The high efficiency and convenience of the internet benefits many individuals and groups. Internet also involves higher education in many different ways, and online course is one of them. When the online courses appear, people begin to compare them with traditional classes which are taught in visual classroom. As a result, two groups of people with different ideas on online courses will against each other. However, I do not think there is a specific result to say which one is better for higher education. Data table shows that the gap of online courses and traditional courses is only 2.94(Daymont & Blau, 2008, May). The data shows that these two …show more content…
Without the forces, students can, with Chamberlin’s words (2016), “develop personal time-management skills.” If students cannot manage their time well, the unsatisfied score will give them feedback. In order to improve, students will learn to adjust both their time and study method. Online courses can also hold some meet in person office hour to help students who feel hard to adjust themselves. Office hour is also a good way to figure out the most appropriate study method for each student. One of the problem that Chamberlin (2016) points out is that online courses required students to find their own path of study. Students can find their unique study method in a short time with their professors’ helping. Professors have teaching experiences, so they may know more about how to study in their major field. Professors can give out more accurate suggestions when they meet students in person, because they can get more information from students’ actions. Hybrid education of online and offline studying can give students an opportunity to manage their time in a better way. Smith (2010, Jun) finds that there are many students have a part time job in higher education and “coming to campus is often difficult for many of them and reducing the number of required face-to-face hours can help students manage.” For online courses, students can read classes material at any time or any places. They can use their time wisely, such as learning during the break of their job. Students also save the time on transportation since online courses do not require to go to classrooms.
