For instance, parents can take steps to minimise the risks of their child becoming a victim by having restrictions on time spent on the internet and putting more rules in place as to whether they can engage on certain social media sites. As stated in Netsafe, (2016) it provides a guide to school obligations regarding the Privacy Act (NZ) around the collection, storage, use and disclosure of private information. Teachers and principals in schools need to help take these steps to ensure proper safety of the students such as, focusing on the wellbeing and safety of the students and ensuring safe and responsible use of the Internet and the sites it provides when it is used by the students.
