Internet Censorship In The United States

Years ago, our forefathers established a place that was a haven for the basic rights that come in the form of our Amendments. These Amendments have shaped the way that we live life and form the basis of our government. Recently, however, a new menace has arisen that threatens to take away some of these rights through the act of internet censorship. Internet censorship is the act of controlling and/or blocking information online. As time has passed and the Internet has grown more popular, its restrictions has influenced more people than ever before. Internet censorship is a violation of some of the biggest liberties humankind has, and it should be abolished to preserve the safety of our people.
One of the Amendments that internet censorship severely breaches is the very first. This amendment states the four basic foundations that the United States was first founded upon. The rights that "everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression." For years, people have always been entitled to their own point of view and ability to express themselves. Many foreign countries that have been infamous for controlling what their citizens see and hear are supporters of internet censorship. Reports have shown that countries such as Iran, Cuba, China, and Vietnam are some of the worst transgressors of this act (Dale, Zuckerman). These studies show that censorship online only continues to grow and spread its roots throughout the world. Many countries actively take part in internet censorship, yet China might be the biggest offender of internet censorship.
