The internet has revolutionized the spread of education and information, which has led the government to censor much of the content on the internet. In the “Disadvantages of the Internet Censorship”, by Ashley Holland, she explains how one of the biggest negatives that come with the censorship of the internet is the violation of the rights along with holding back the growth of the society. By restricting them from knowing the entire story, not only is that a violation of their freedom of speech, it holds individuals back from growing as an individual and making the best decisions for themselves and the society, while also holding back development and innovation. For example, by censoring inappropriate content on the school wifi, it restricts the student from accessing content such as “Moby Dick”, even though it is known to be an intelligent piece of literature. Additionally, censorship in the schools could also hold students from exploring debates such as sexuality and drug use, which could be beneficial for each student to be aware of. Even though censoring the internet does have its negative impacts, there are some positive results that could come from it. For example many governments censor content that is simply copyright, which protects the originality of certain content and gives the original user its ownership. While the government could also track illegal activities that could hurt the country's security(11 Chief Pros and Cons of Internet Censorship). Ways the government censor the internet is still unknown, but the way schools can censor the internet is through web filter such as blacklists or DNS. In which, an individual could obtain service from the DNS provider and they would not allow any websites that the user does not want
