Ever since 624 B.C., humans have always dreamed of space and all of its wonders. Thales was a Greek philosopher that theorized that the Earth was just disk floating in a dark ocean. Today humans are calling this dark ocean the universe. Ever since this discovery there are now astronomers, astrophysicist, and astronauts working towards mankind’s greatest achievement: The International Space Station (ISS). IT began as just an idea in the Industrial Revolution later being grown to a huge project. The ISS is not just a space station but the future for humanity: earth is being depleted of its resources and mankind is going to need to move to another planet. Without the station up in space then scientist would not have figured out how to save lives, and a new way to regulate ship travel and improvement on air travel. In addition the ISS is always receiving new technology, for example a giant robotic arm made from Canada. It is used for docking, the space shuttle. For which the astronauts use to get back-and-from the ISS. The shuttle being used and reused, Most of the tiles on the shuttle are made of silica fibers, which are produced from high grade sand. Silica is an excellent insulator because it transports heat slowly. When the outer part of a tile gets hot, the heat takes a long time to work its way down through the rest of the tile to the shuttle's thinner layer. This tile contains a special chemical element Aluminum. Making it the shuttles outer protective layer along with the silica tiles, without Aluminum and the tiles the shuttle would burn as it goes through orbit. Aluminum is used for several other things like: the outer layer of the ISS, the Apollo moon lander was wrapped in aluminum. Aluminum is great for locking in cold air and keeping the hot air out. Making aluminum a necessity to the ISS, as well as steel and other metals. Scientist have stated that aluminum is the 3rd most abundant resource on earth before iron. All of this metal, water, and life brought to earth on meteors and asteroids. But most importantly, stars they are one the many fundamental creations that affects earth from a day-to-day basis. Stars did not just appear out of no were, but from the big bang. Stars are the main structure to making new elements. The way stars do this is at the core of giant stars it is extremely hot around 200,000,000 to 10,000,000,000. That is hot enough to start to fuse hydrogen into helium. This is still not hot enough to start to fuse atoms into more complex stages. Red
