Article Review Paper The article I chose to review is "International Migration at the Beginning of the Twenty‐First Century: Global Trends and Issues.” by Stephen Castles. The last article review, I used a required reading assignment to write about, but when I started article review #2, this article stood out the most to me. Migration has always been a topic that I wanted to learn more about and after finishing this article, I feel like I came away with knowledge that I would have not been able to get from some google searches. The article provided an array of detailed insight about migration trends as well as the issues associated with it. The article talked about the types of migration and as well, gave …show more content…
Just like in the article, migration is multifaceted. According to our slides compared to other terms, we have learned throughout the semester, migration is harder to define because some may view a move as a migration but according to our slides, it is not. I never thought I would enjoy learning this much about migration but now that I have gotten a taste, I want to learn more. I was surprised to learn that I have migrated multiple times in my life and by the time I graduate I will be a migrant again. It was interesting to learn about the causes of migration. I as well enjoyed learning about how migration historically repeats itself. I never took the time to look at the patterns but it makes sense as to why the cycles of migration continue. If more people learn about the difference between migration and immigration, relations can improve. I understand that people are hesitant about letting more people in but we can all learn from people of different
