THE IMPACT OF INTERCOUNTRY DIFFERENCES ON HRM PRACTICES AND STRATEGIES
Strategy usually refers to the direction that the organization wishes to take; the way it plans to do things in order to achieve its objectives. Business strategy can be determined at both industry and organizational level. The HR strategy of any organization is usually linked to its business strategy.
It is worth noting that globalization of business has become a reality, with the economic interconnectedness of nations and their organizations facilitated by new technologies and an increasing number of trade agreements between countries and regions. This certainly has implications for HRM strategies and activities. For a company operating only in one country of the HR managers have only a limited set of legal, cultural and economic variables. For a company operating in different countries there is a whole set of cultural, economic and legal differences that do impact the way HR strategies and practices are carried out.

Effects of cultural differences on HRM strategies and practices Culture can be defined as common patterns of beliefs, assumptions, values and norms of behaviors of human groups which can relate to societies, institutions and organizations. Countries differ widely in their cultures, that is in the way they adhere to basic values and in the way these values are manifested in ways of doing things.
