The general ideas of adoption are international, domestic and to be more specific, open and closed adoption. Many countries across the ocean have placed restrictions of the number of children a family can have, gender restrictions, or bearing a child out of wedlock. This leaves many children without homes. International adoption is when a child is adopted from other countries. Domestic adoption, which is the most popular form because it happens in the U.S. This type of adoption can be in between relatives, or not relative. Along with the different types of adoption, there comes the relationship with the biological parent after the process. Open adoption can mean two things visitation rights to the family or just minimal contact, such as pictures and letters sent through the parents. There has be strong debates between which is the better option. According to the Oxford Dictionary, abortion means “the deliberate termination of a human pregnancy, most often preformed during the first 28 weeks of the pregnancy.” Some consider this murder, even though the child is unborn at the time. Understanding the process of adoption isn’t as difficult as it seems. There are many steps to adoption and deciding to give up a child can be a difficult decision. I can attest to the success of adoption because of me and my brothers. Our interesting situation is that not one of us are biologically related. I asked my brother, how does it feel to be adopted. “I don’t think about it. It doesn’t cross my mind. This is my family, there’s no doubt in my mind I’m not where I’m supposed to be.”
