All successful organizations are affected by internal and external factors. These internal and external factors have an impact on the organizations four functions of management. The organizations that better adapt to these factors are the organizations that are the most successful, the more profitable and the companies that have will be around for a long time. AT&T is a company that has been around since the 1800’s and has been able to adapt to these internal and external factors that in a lot of cases affect the four functions of management, which are planning, organizing, leading and controlling.

A good leader has to be able to motivate and guide different types of personalities by all means. There is also different external environmental factors that can affect the way the company can lead its workers to better accomplish the goals. Mobilizing people is probably one of the most difficult tasks to do depending on the reputation of the company and other internal factors such as good benefits, which can affect how a worker responds to its daily duties as an employee of the company. Controlling is a key stage in the functions of management. That’s because of the ability to make changes on any occasion necessary in order to adapt to any type of internal or external factor that has arise within the company. As the book states all prior functions don’t guaranteed success. The controlling stage monitors the performance and implements needed changes at any time. This controlling function makes sure all goals are met. An external factor such as competition success could make the other managerial functions to change based on the market demand created by a new competitor and this is where the controlling stage can make a change and adjust for the success of the company. All these four management function are an integral part of the business success and cannot be overlooked. That’s the reason some companies are still around after years of being created.
