She does not believe she is good enough because her mother is trying to make her into something she is just not. Because mothers are usually the ones who raise children and have huge impact on how children are raised and give comfort when times are rough. But when a mother does not do those things and creates those rough times instead it creates a friction between the mother and child. The internal conflict that June is facing makes this hard on her decisions as she wanted to pay the piano in the begging because it seemed interesting, but because her mother wanted her to do it, and pushed her to be better and work harder, she lost interest. This also caused the external conflict where June is physically hurting herself isn’t he mirror because she hates what she see. A quote puts this into perspective, I looked in the mirror above the bathroom sink and when I saw only my face staring back–and that it would always be this ordinary face–I began to cry. Such a sad, ugly girl!
