What is emotional intelligence? As defined it is “the ability to express emotion accurately, as well as the ability to understand emotion and emotional knowledge along with the ability to access and to generate feelings when they facilitate emotions in ways that insist thought”. However this is only part of the story ones emotional intelligence also allows them to adjust to and handle stress, anxiety, etc. One emotional intelligence directly relates to how one deals with these internal and external factors of emotion and how one reacts to them depends on their maturity level with individual learning to control these factors better as they grow older. These characteristic are what separate those who mature to those who are still maturing and learning to handle situations. These characteristics can be the difference between someone who although nervous taking a test or giving a presentation and slowly taking their time to make sure that they focus on the task at hand to someone who lets this nervousness overcome them greatly effecting their performance on the same test. The same can be said about giving speeches. One who is in control of their emotions as anxious and nervous as they may be will be able to suppress these emotional from effecting there performance while someone who is less mature will begin to stumble, lose their train of thought and overall give a much worse presentation because their emotions happened to get the best of …show more content…
For this presentation we had to give a 20 minute speech on a case analysis of a particular company. For this we had to give an introduction for the company, outlining the basic information for the case then proceed to answer a specific set of questions using statistical analysis in order to make recommendations to the companies process in which will help the company run more smoothly and have their production process become more streamlined and cost efficient. Now at first when doing out the work within in the group I was very calm and able to analyze and process the case in a way in which I understood all of the business decisions throughout the entire analysis even when I would become frustrated spending several hours trying to figure out ways to solve certain situations however I was able to manage these emotions of frustration without much issue and motivate myself to persevere through until the problem has been solved no matter how long it may have taken. Once the analysis had been completed I had to put together a power point presentation outlining what we had done throughout the case so that I could touch upon certain key points during the speech making sure that I would not miss any valuable or important information in which we used to base the groups decisions.
