Not exactly sure, but I feel it 's from two reasons. Interning at my second location, the population was in way both dealing with both the mental health population and the younger population. Originally, all the intern positions for the morning adult program were taken so thought to take the afternoon teen program. At first I thought it would be a semester only experience in the younger population of mental health. The more I interact with them, the more I begin to accept this learning experience. Part of this early acceptance was in part of my younger past. From elementary to the first half of high school, I have a learning disability and was placed in a resource class; a transitional class between a special education class and a “normal” class. Perhaps it 's empathy and experience that played a role that allowed me to “fit in” with this
