Students are constantly asked, ever since a young age, the question of “what do you want to be when you grow up”, and this is a question that happens to encompass life. The idea of deciding a major just happens to be the first stepping-stone into the “real world”. Diving head first into the world of majors can be a very terrifying place, but that’s why many explore different pathways, to discover one’s true calling, one’s niche. While I am unsure about my future endeavors, I would like to think I am not going in completely blind, since I have a few possible ideas of career pathways: Nutrition, Design (Interior and Graphic), and Journalism.

Graphic designers alike interior designers have to face tough competition and rally the specialized designs of each client. However, unlike interior designers- graphic designers, create visual concepts using computer software or by hand, to communicate ideas that inspire, inform, and captivate consumers. They develop the overall layout and production design for various applications such as advertisements, brochures, magazines, and corporate reports (bls.gov).
A degree in the field of design doesn’t require much math or science; it focuses on a diverse understanding of the arts (color scheme, shapes), media software (Adobe, Illustrator), and business (advertising). Overall, all of these careers can have bright outlooks with time, patience, and expierence, however I think the best fields –including the benefits, would be Nutrition and Interior/Graphic design. Nutrition is an aspect in life that affects all, a concept that is incorporated into everyone’s daily lives, and in all sense, is the thing that keeps all alive. As research has shown that people that follow a health dietary guideline can prolong life expectancy, mood, and relieve stress. Lastly, Interior/Graphic design falls into the artistic side of myself. Interior design has always been something I have been interested in, as when I get bored, I create boards of home ideas on Pintrest- rooms (bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchens, etc.).
