Each generation is stating that they do not understand the other generation whether they are supervising them or being supervised by them, consequently affecting the effectiveness of each department dealing with the intergenerational issues. These issues between the generations are going to continue to be a problem until employees stop simply complaining and actually give suggestions on how barriers can be overcome. It’s one thing to say you don’t understand the other generations, but what specifically is it that you do not understand. Unless we get to the root of the cause strides cannot be made in the bridging the gap between the generations. In the respective departments there are baby boomers, generation x and millennials all working closely together bringing to light the difference amongst the generations which can make it difficult to get along with one other. In our departments we have people who are decades apart in age with diverse attitudes about appropriate ways to conduct business, different priorities, values and beliefs. Each generation is a product of the era in which they grew up in and have an array of life experiences which has shaped the person they are today and how they engage with others in the workplace. Each generation is at different stage not only in their careers, but in life however, if these generational issues persist it can lower
