Assignment 15 Interest groups are a great way to persuade our politicians about a concern that a group of individuals may have. Politicians are influenced through the means of lobbying either directly by talking with the official or indirectly such as talking it over with an ordinary citizen. Interest groups can be very powerful and influential and have made President’s, lawmakers, and even judges change their minds about a decision in the past. Some of the main hundreds of interest groups out there include MADD, PETA, and the NRA. MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving) is a nonprofit organization that is aiming towards a reduction in drunk driving death rates

    Mothers Against Drunk Driving or MADD was founded in 1980 by Candy Lighter, whose daughter was tragically killed by a drunk driver. MADD is an organization to help reduce drunk driving traffic fatalities. There are numerous anti drunk driving commercials out there, but I believe this on is the best, which is named Best MADD Anti DUI commercial ever on YouTube. It is the best because the organization’s use of ethos, pathos, and logos create an effective call to action for viewers to make more responsible choices.     The norms in the society for individuals against impaired driving are self evident. Binge drinking, drug consumption, and other forms of substance abuse are not good for oneself and must not be abused.
