In chapter thirteen I found the basic parts of interest groups, also known as lobbies, to be most interesting. The book began by defining an interest group as, "An organized group of individuals or organizations that makes policy-related appeals to government" (Pg. 561). Individuals form groups to create collective action with the hope to be heard and favored by the government. I found the involvement that interest groups have on the American government system astonishing. The use of these interest groups promotes political participation and encourage members for elections. In addition, I found the economic influence on interest groups interesting. The book went as far as to list a multitude of different lobbies that have direct and economic
