Interest Goals And Accomplishments

Decent Essays
Interests, goals and accomplishments is driven by a motive. Behind all motives comes a story and my story of motivations started when a couple left their home island, in doing so they sacrificed their culture, identify, and their family to set sail on a windy sea to search a better future. The husband experiencing the life beyond the islands knew what the future hold for their children if they were to not make sail to the State capital. He knew that farming on the land and scavenging the sea will not be enough to survive the world in coming days. He knew that life will not be the same if they were to go forth with the plan. The only life the wife knew was the life on her home island. She made a pledge to her husband, through better or worse,

In the reading, “Groundwork for the Metaphysic of Morals”, Kant talks about motives which describes why people do the things that they do. The chapter that I will be focusing on is chapter 1, which the overall summary is if a person is acting from a sense of duty. Kant also explains the difference between doing something from duty and doing things for another reason. If I am acting from duty, I perform the action anyway even though it may not be in my interest. If I do something in accordance with duty, then I am performing the action because it pleases me and it is in my interest.…

From a young age, children are expected to know what they want to be when they grow up. They are a budding generation of princesses, astronauts, firefighters, and presidents. It doesn’t matter that they have no royal lineage or that the chances of becoming President are exceedingly rare, especially if they are Canadian. Adults allow them to create these dreams because it gives them a motivation, a forward pull in life. It is through this ritual that children learn the meaning of ambition.…

According to Lamberton and Minor (2014) self-motivation is essential to the idea of self-direction, which is the ability to set short-term and long-term goals. Both short-term goals and long-term goals are important in life to become successful. I have set certain goals I would like to accomplish in my lifetime; some of these goals are personal while others are professional. A few of my professional goals for the future are to finish my Bachelor’s degree in nursing, find a nursing job in an ambulatory surgery unit, and eventually, apply for a Master’s degree to become a nurse practitioner.…

In all our lives, we look for things to motivate us to achieve the things we have decided to try and achieve. We may feel motivated to graduate from college because no one in our family ever did. We may want to become a high-level athlete because we are inspired by our favorite athletes. Other examples of this include wanting to get a high paying job because we grew up in poverty and doing well in school so we can escape living in a bad neighborhood as well as coming back to that neighborhood when we are successful to show the children that it can be done and motivate them to achieve similar goals. Those are just a few of many examples of ways people find motivation in their lives.…

Self-Determination Theory "Self-Determination theory (SDT) is an approach to human motivation and personality that uses traditional empirical methods while employing an organismic metatheory that highlights the importance of humans’ evolved inner resources for personality development and behavioral self-regulation"(Ryan & Deci, 2000, p. 68). Within this paper onee will discuss the correlation between SDT and motivation in relations to personal individual growth, and professional development. Determining Motivation "Self-determination theory suggests that there are different types of motivation, such that people vary not only in level of motivation but also in the source or quality of that motivation. At the same time, SDT postulates a continuum of autonomy to order those types of motivation" (Chemolli & Gagne, 2014, p. 575). Motivation is derived from the desire of the nature at hand; the interest of the specified subject, will determine the depth of the motivation.…

Intrinsic vs Extrinsic Motivation Motivation can be understood as a mixture of attention and effort towards specific objectives that comes as a result of purposiveness and aspirations to obtain a specific result, or accomplish goals. The fundamental opposition proposed between intrinsic and extrinsic motivation suggests that it can be considered as arising inside the individual as a self-regulated occurrence or by imposition from external sources. To define the two types of motivation we could say that intrinsic motivation is when you want to do something, and extrinsic motivation is when somebody else tries to make you do something.…
