Interdisciplinary Studies Personal Statement Examples

Overall my experience in the Interdisciplinary Studies program (IS) at the University of Houston Downtown has provided me with the flexibility to pursue educational experience in personal interests as well as professional development within my current work experience. Unlike other degrees that focus primarily on a specific subject area, the IS program allowed me to take classes in a wide variety of subject area based primarily on personal interests and a desire to learn as much as possible. Subjects in History has always been of an interest to me and I have successfully taken many History classes and will most likely proceed with work on a Masters in History. At the same time, I was also able develop professionally with Business and Supply Chain coursed to support my career as a Senior Contracts Specialist in the Oil and Gas industry. A minor in Business has helped me to understand the fundamentals of business principles and supply chain operations. Although most of my twenty years of work experience has been in Supply Chain, the courses in Business and Supply Chain helped to understand the principles that guide business and how supply chain operates …show more content…
Dance Appreciation and other humanities courses has helped me to understand a passion for dance in all forms and an area of interest on a personal level. Communications and Philosophy also have helped in developing personal communications and thought on a deeper level with critical thinking and questioning skills. Drama and Dance have also created a passion for the arts that is very special to me as an individual and the ability to interpret the arts from a different perspective. Understanding that art is much more that simple movement or action on stage but something that is derived from deep personal experiences of the
