What intercultural challenges are you currently facing?
Intercultural challenges are evident in practically every aspect of life, from surrounding neighbors in the neighborhood to people you encounter in the grocery stores, and from foreign exchange students in universities to immigrant in the workplace. Moreover, “the ability to be personally engaged and persevere through intercultural challenges is one of the most novel and important aspects of cultural intelligence” . Learning to understand the differences in the cultural norms is difficult in the workplace. Although, I have utilized my CQ action for beneficial purposes, there have been problems from the lack thereof. There were individuals in my workplace who needed assistance, but because they had not learned my language and because I was not familiar with her language, communication was a failure. The client became frustrated and I failed to calm her down due to the language and cultural barrier However, an associate of the client came by and was able to translate. The initial client kept repeating: „ “Bitte hilf mir, ich kann mein Kind nicht finden “, which is translated „. “Please help me, I can't find my child.“ We were finally able to locate her child after breaking through the language barrier with help from her associate and were able to locate the child.

List one specific multicultural skill you would like to improve over the next year. I would like to improve my leadership in a multicultural team, but to do this I would first have to:
1. Recognize each team member as a distinctive singular person. This would include:
a. Isolating individual characteristics from their cultural contrast.
b. Showing interest and building rapport through conversations about the individual’s likes and dislikes, OR
c. Work to minimize dialect contrasts, by utilizing visual aids
2. Manage cross-cultural conflict by promoting effective conflict resolution. This would include:

To enhance my CQ action, I would have to utilize CQ strategies which include:
Learning multiple languages which would allow me to communicate verbally among other cultures.
1. Learning the meaning behind certain traditions, including dress and gestures. This way, I will show that I respect their society and culture.
2. Learning to interpret and communicate using their facial expressions because in some cultures it is against the law to look up into the face of a man.
3. Would be to adjust my verbal stance that is appropriate for a woman in that culture. The way you speak means different things in different cultures, therefore to modify by speech would be beneficial. be to Another way would be to learn how to address men in Public.
4. Learn how to communicate directly and indirectly. Making sure not to swear in public and that I approach the appropriate party for information or communication, an indirect approach.
