While playing, Lexi, a girl next to me slapped the center card, in response, the audience let out an “OOOOH,” then we all started laughing. While Lexi pulled the victorious card into her deck, I thought about the first time I met her. It was Intercity tennis and I played number one doubles with my partner, Kara. Growing up in a family of over-achievers; it was hard to stand out and do something different from my five other siblings. When I played tennis, I could be competitive and be known for my name, not my brothers and sisters.

The world’s fourth most popular sport is a sport of focus, hand-eye coordination, movement, and competition. Tennis has been around since the 12th century, causing it to be extremely ancient. Like any other sport, it has witnessed discrimination against certain groups of people. The game has drastically changed its views and people that were once prejudiced-people of color and women- are topping the charts and adjusting the barriers even more by initiating equal pay and equal rules. The decrease of race and gender discrimination has increased the quality of play, and has changed the way that tennis is structured and viewed.…

My most significant leadership experience would be when I was in the Girls Varsity Tennis Team. I had been in the tennis team during my highschool years, for 2 years. During that time I learned a lot about being a leader, such as what it means to lead others, and what qualities a leader should have. When I first started playing tennis I started at the position on 2nd doubles, to me I took it as that I was not good enough to play against an opponent by myself on the court. Which was entirely true, because when I began playing I was not any good whatsoever.…

Tires crunched on the loose gravel parking lot as I was dropped off at my high school’s tennis courts on the first day of school. Marketability is one of the reasons as to why prize money should be equal at tennis competitions, however, women's ticket sales are lower than men's, women are seen as reliant on men's and women's events being held at the same time and men's ticket sales are higher and also more expensive than women's. One of the most elite male tennis players in the world, Novak Djockovic states, " As long as it's like that and there is data and stats available upon who attracts more attention, spectators, who sells more tickets and stuff like that, in relation to that it has to be fairly distributed. Abstract: The official material used in table tennis balls was changed from celluloid to plastic, a material free of celluloid, in 2014. The purpose of this study was to understand the differences and similarities between these two types of ball materials by comparing their behavior upon collision with a table tennis table to aid serious table tennis players. The behavior of the balls before and after collision with a table, at various initial speeds ranging from 15 to 115 km/h, was captured using high-speed cameras. Velocity and spin rates before collision, along with velocity and spin rates after collision, were computed to calculate the coefficients of restitution and friction. Based on the computed variables, the post-collision trajectories…
