Teaching African American males their historical identity construction using Interactive Whiteboards (IWB) will exhibit historical construction of identity and stereotyping which the African American male has experienced over four hundred years leading up to their current condition. Students’ attitudes towards the use of the (IWB) were at a medium level and this can be interpreted as positive as they were introduced with this new technology for the first time. Like the other technological devices, the (IWB) is not a device that should be used in the whole of the lesson or in all lessons. Mobile interactive whiteboards are a viable alternative to the more expensive stationary interactive whiteboards. Not only are they more cost effective, they afford teachers and students with the ability to collaborate in ways not possible with stationary IWBs.
Engaging students in conducting authentic interviews using IWB video and publishing to a worldwide audience represents a paradigm shift to both the field of oral history and to the notions of the limitations of students ' contributions to society (Levin, 2011).
