Interactions between high and low context cultures can be problematic, which may explain the dissonance between Israel and the UAE. According to authors John Cragan and David Wright (1999) low context cultures are not known for their ability to tolerate or understand diversity, and tend to be more insular. With that being said, the presentation needs to reflect the cultural tendencies of all involved. The primary mistake that we should avoid in multi-cultural business meetings is assuming cultural similarity. Cultural assumptions based on a common business goal with people of different background, goals, and aspirations will prove dismal if preconceived notions are decided on prior to meeting. To avoid misunderstandings that may compromise the success of the meeting, all parties must be culturally aware and competent. Cultural awareness and understanding is crucial for any international business venture. However, to be culturally aware, our company have to start with our own culture. The organization must reestablish core values by focusing on communication, teamwork and collaboration. It is important to realize that every society wants to achieve something greater, something good, and be respected and understood. Our company should take the lead and provide guidance in the way of cultural respect. Every leader serves a specific function, and for us, it is to create a unified vision with our international partners, foster a community environment, and develop a relationship with each other that will help ease future negotiations, development, and implementation.
