Intelligent Design on Trial Intelligent Design on Trial is a documentary over the Kitzmiller v Dover case. In this case, teaching intelligent design in public schools was ruled to be unconstitutional. This case brought about the question of whether or not intelligent design is a science, and should it be taught in science classes in public schools. In Pennsylvania, teachers refused to read a statement about intelligent design being related to Darwin’s Theory of Evolution. Because of this refusal, this brought parents and teachers to claim a lawsuit and sue the district which then led to a court case to determine if intelligent design is a new name for creationism, which is already forbidden in public schools because of its religious nature. Many say intelligent is a science stopper that make people stupid. Eleven residents sued Dover school to keep intelligent design out of schools. The question was, is intelligent design a science or a hidden religion? The goal on intelligent design is to re-Christianize the American society. Parents and teachers did not like how religion and science were going to be mixed together. This caused a public uproar.
