Intelligent Design Case Study

The Discovery Institute “discovers” ways to make the theory of evolution look like it is too flawed and inaccurate to be a scientific theory. They consider themselves an advocacy group for intelligent design. Intelligent design is an alternative theory to evolution. They want to teach ID along with accepted scientific theories like evolution. They do not do research but they propose what they consider to be good ideas. For example they try to say that the flagellum is too complex to have been created through evolution so instead they use no science and say that a higher being or intelligent designer must have put it there. They use a negative theory to try and prove that they are correct. I would not consider them a scientific organization because they don’t do experiments on their ideas since you can not do tests on the supernatural. In chapter 5 of the documentary, the narrator says: "As it turned out, the latest in a large body of evidence to refute intelligent design and support evolution was coming to light just as this case was unfolding." Is it possible to refute Intelligent Design? Explain
One of the biggest challenges of Intelligent Design is that there is no way to disprove it or rule it out since you cannot perform experiment based on the supernatural. Since creations attribute the existence of life to miracles or supernatural processes and cannot do experiments they cannot do research and make every attempt to the inadequacy of evolution in order to support their argument. They make claims like evolution cant be observed so it must be false but with the discovery of genetics science has been able to add more and more support in favor of evolution.
