The Intelligence of Integrity
Integrity is often defined as honesty in a person’s actions, or adhering to moral principles in everyday life. Integrity is a positive thing to have in any context, but many people, including myself, have chosen to take a dishonest path in some instances.
Integrity applies to me and others during daily life at school. For example, during tests, dishonesty seems to be the “easy way out” in many cases. Most students have either looked at someone else’s paper, written notes on their hands and arms, or looked at “cheat sheets” while taking a test. It is morally wrong, but everyone has done it or thought about it, no matter how honest we are. Another way integrity is applied to student life is when others are being disruptive or not following rule and a person with integrity will be respectful and do the opposite. Many students will be disrespectful instead and others will usually follow them. Though having integrity might not be the most popular route, it shows the true goodness of a person and their intentions. …show more content…
For example, a boy who went to my middle school persuaded my friend to give him her essay to use for a class. She agreed, and it went unnoticed by the teacher that they had the same essay. It was surprising to me at how he got away with being dishonest, but even so, it most likely hurt his moral character. In contrast, an example of integrity in my school life that I’ve witnessed was when my friend refused to cheat. She realized that cheating didn’t help her, but actually gave her a bad grade on the test instead. She admitted that it wasn’t worth doing something wrong, because it didn’t make things easier in her
