Having integrity is a key quality to have in a school environment, as well as on a sports team and even in relationships with family and friends. Integrity means the quality of being honest and having strong moral principles. In a school and extracurricular activities, integrity applies to a majority of the population. Whether a person is honest or dishonest, depends on their ability to respond and take responsibility for their actions. Integrity is a concept that could either hurt or help a person in one’s educational journey. If a person in school is honest, he or she will be trusted by their peers as well as teachers, while a person who is dishonest will be mistrusted by the people around them and would suffer the consequences for the action …show more content…
Being honest will allow someone to be trusted, and understood. Honesty as well as educational ability will be able to get a person through school, and even a job out in the real world. In college you have to be able honest in order for your professors to trust you. In addition, honesty will go a long way with your colleagues in the working world. When I enter the next “chapter” of my life beyond education, I aspire to be a lawyer. In order to practice law, you have to be honest in the courtroom as well as outside of it. In court you are sworn to tell the truth by the judge. In addition to that, outside of the trial it is evident that a lawyer is supposed to be very honest. A lawyer has to offer the client the best service available, and make a trusting environment, whether the client is guilty or not. Also, being honest with your client about the conditions of his or her trial standing will hopefully in turn make them be honest with you. Finally, honesty can also shape relationships between friends and family. If everyone in the relationship is honest with each other, there will more trust in the relationship which will cause less “secret-keeping”. With this being said, integrity will shape a person’s
