What is the integration of psychology and Christianity? To answer this question, it has to be clear what are the three words, integration, psychology, and Christianity mean. The word integration means that combining two or more parts together so that they work as one. Then what are psychology and Christianity? Before modernity, church was and had authority that it was the foundation of truth; however, after modernity, reason, objectivity, logical reasoning, became the foundation of truth(Johnson, 2010). Christianity is often considered as very subjective so that Scripture often does not seem right or true to those who don’t believe it and sometimes even Christians. On the other hand, reasoning, science, took a place for foundation of truth after modernity since science can be valid as truth due to its …show more content…
All these integration views have both psychology and Christianity nature. A few of those are more liberal and others are considered as conservative. I am going to discuss what the integration of psychology and Christianity should be as I go through the strength and weakness of each of the five integration views.
Men and women are often considered as two different living creatures because of their nature. According to Bible, “That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and they become one flesh” (Genesis 2:24 NIV). God created two different living creatures, men and women to unite as one. God created everything including psychology as science and Christianity as well as men and women, two different living creatures to unite as one, then isn’t it possible for psychology and Christianity to integrate as well? Is it possible for everyone to have the same understanding of what integration
