Prior to my involvement with 4-H, I was a program manager for All 4 Kids. All 4 Kids is a program of the University of Nevada Cooperative Extension targeting preschool aged children and their families to address childhood obesity. In that program I was to develop and teach a train-the-trainer course for preschool teachers derived from the All 4 Kids published curriculum. Acelero Head Start preschool teachers were the target audience for the program’s train-the-trainer lesson. As a 4-H program manager, I have been given the challenge of resurging 4-H professional development training and introducing 4-H experiential learning process to the Clark County School District educators. In the process of developing the 4-H professional development training there were two obstacles: 1) identifying which activities teachers would find useful in their classrooms and 2) being able to match specific 4-H activities that would address Next Generation Content Science Standards (NGCSS) and the Nevada State Academic Content Standards (NSACS).
To address the 1st obstacle, I choose to gather information about teacher interest first by developing a simple survey through Survey Monkey and distributing it via e-mail to primary through secondary education Clark County School District teachers who agreed to receive the survey.
