Now you’re probably thinking a little since I just told you that you can have sugar on a fat loss diet. One of the things probably rambling through your mind is insulin. As you know you typically think of insulin as the all mighty fat storage hormone, and it just takes glucose (sugar) from your blood stream and stores it. I believe when thinking in terms of fat loss this is one of the biggest misunderstood concepts. People usually end up eating some low carb diet or low glycemic foods such as rice because they see it as “any insulin is bad for fat loss”. For fat loss to occur you have to release it into the blood stream (lipolysis), but if you don’t use it, it can also go back into storage (lipogenesis). The whole point of this section was to show what the macronutrients are, what are some of the other benefits of them besides being fuel for your body; and that you can have things that are considered “bad for you”. Like if you remember when comparing fats such as saturated to unsaturated it didn’t have a negative effect on health. Just like if I were to stuff my face full of chocolate pies (high glycemic) not going to have an impact on fat loss if it’s controlled. If you could take one thing away from this section, I want you to realize that nutrition isn’t and shouldn’t be a one size fits all things. You don’t have to eat chicken, broccoli, and rice all day, its 100% okay to eat things you enjoy! The beautiful thing called science says so. I know you will go out and enjoy yourself at restaurants, go to dinners, movies, or even eat things like chocolate pies. That’s just life in general. I want you to know that one thing isn’t going to be the reason why you can’t lose weight.
