I will start this lesson off by asking students how historical records have helped us understand events of the past. Why would these records be important in the future? I will ask students what are considered primary sources, are there multiple types of primary sources or just one?
Instructional Process:
We will then analyze a document of the Underground Railroad together. This will give students an understanding of how to analyze a document and what to look for. Once we have analyzed the document we will then as a class write a paragraph on the document and why or why not it is credible.
