Before entering this course I thought all an instructional designer did was assist others in becoming more proficient in their use technology. But this course has taught me that an instructional designer is much more than an assistant. My identity as an instructional designer is one of a creative problem solver using the best tools to convey information to people in a way that not only engages them, but does so using methods that help students learn efficiently. I have realized that not every tool needs to be high technology and technology is just that a tool to be used when it is the best tool for the job.

Being a detailed person with photography I see myself taking a natural leap into videography as my strength. I would also say that I enjoy working as a team and bringing together the strengths of everyone to create a much stronger asset than we could have created individually. Other areas that I am strong in would be on the software side such as Keynote, GarageBand, iMovie, and Adobe Acrobat. The one program that I love, but still need practice with is Adobe Illustrator. Once I am proficient with Adobe Illustrator I will be very satisfied with tools I have learned to use. I also plan on sharing my best work (whether done for myself or for others) online when possible to show others what I am capable of doing. I also plan on making myself more available to help people by establishing online resources authored by myself and other professionals and authorities. I plan to accomplish this by working on making sure that my online presence is linked giving my viewers the opportunity to find content that I have posted and shared in the medium of their choosing hopefully making it easier for them to be repeat visitors and repeat advertisers of what I am doing on their professional media.
