Institutionalized racism is a form of systematic racism that hinders many of individuals of color from accessing pivotal resources that lead to their success within society. This form of racism prevents many individuals of color from attaining a quality education, a steady income, and a chance at living a healthy and efficient life. Institutionalized racism encompasses the many injustices that plague many individuals of color throughout society. To this day, police brutality, high rates of poverty, and high incarceration rates all sprout from the injustices of systematic racism in which are intended to limit the well-being of individuals of color. The beauty and power of art will allow to me address the issues of racism and inequality within our society. Art is an extremely expressive and unifying force that can create awareness to individuals from many different backgrounds. By creating music, clothing, poetry, and many other art forms, I can use these platforms as a way to express the detrimental effects of racism and how it tarnishes society. Furthermore, these artistic platforms can serve as a method to empower UCLA students to create a change, fighting the evils of prejudice and systemic
