I am greatly inspired by the Securities and Exchange Commission’s goal to protect investors but also enforce their accountability to conduct investments in a fair and orderly manner. It allows for a fair process in which investors are subject to an impartial analysis and decision process of their cases. It creates an atmosphere of transparency, understanding, trust, and respect between staff, citizens, and the accused. Similar to the Securities and Exchange Commission’s goal, my goal as a person and aspiring attorney is to be helpful, fair, respectful, objective, and observant. I am eager to gain an understanding of our rapidly changing world and its relationship to law and the economy. It is why I jumped at the opportunity to be able to contribute to the Office of Inspector General. When you run into one of your former students who is successfully earning their degree you get an amazing feeling that you have made a true difference in their life. This has happened with several of my past students over the years, including my “at-risk” students who were labeled as such for fear that they would not graduate—to help them overcome all odds and do exactly that is what makes teaching so fulfilling. When I resided in Turkey in the third grade, as a military child, my teacher asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I knew immediately that I wanted to be a teacher just like him. Dr. Mossburg, who is now the Chief of Curriculum for DoDEA’s Education Division, made learning fun and exciting.…

After hours of research on the laws and regulatory entities, I have found that I still do not know all of the regulatory entities. I also realized that to be a financial advisor means that you must have knowledge of financial laws similar to how a lawyer would have knowledge of all the other government laws. I did not realize just how serious The SEC and other entities were and how severe the punishments could be for something that seems so innocent. Before I make any large investments or start any career in finance I think it is important that I know the things that could send me to jail or fined astronomical amounts of money. It is also important that I learn more about all the governing bodies and laws surrounding the financial world so I can use that knowledge to benefit me over less educated investors.…
