Have you ever received a low amount of sleep at night and felt irritated, tired, distracted, and stressed? This is how patients who are diagnosed with Insomnia Disorder feel. Adults need up to 8 hours of sleep per night, due to their health and ability to function. Insomnia Disorder makes it difficult for one to maintain the required hours of sleep. Sufficient sleep is a healthy human need (Ehrlich, 2016), without it daily functioning becomes a struggle. Insomnia is the most frequently reported sleep disorder in the world. Although Insomnia is common there are insignificant physicians training in the recognition of the disorder and most patients do not pursue medical treatment (Roth, 2007). Another struggle of one who has insomnia consist of someone who cannot fall asleep even when very tired and are not able to fall back asleep once waken up. Typically someone who has insomnia will experience headaches (Ehrlich, 2016), from not having enough sleep or waking up frequently. Not feeling refreshed after sleep happens commonly to individuals who have insomnia, this is due to not have a normal amount of sleep per night. Since individuals experience trouble falling asleep and staying asleep, one will experience anxiety when it is time for them to fall asleep (Ehrlich, 2016). During the day daytime drowsiness is a typical symptom for insomnia (). Being tired throughout the day, due to having a lack of normal sleep, causes one to have trouble concentrating on task and their normal routines. Since individuals have trouble concentrating on task they often make more errors, mistakes, and accidence throughout their day, this can be due to being sleepy and drowsy from the insomnia as well (Ehrlich, 2016).

She is irritable and has become distress (A Case Study, n.d.), due to her lack of sleep. Elisabeth feels anxious and distressed all the time, but does not show any signs of depression. During the day she has drowsiness and finds it hard to focus on her job and her child. Elisabeth has reported in having tension headaches during the day, which is causing her to lack attention (Ehrlich, 2016). Elisabeth has been drinking up to 3 cups of caffeine, such as coffee and soda, during the day and taking naps whenever given the chance in order to feel awake and energized (A Case Study,
